Kingston, Jamaica —Another International organisation extends its support of JTA in its struggle to get government to make changes to the JTC Bill.
The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has once again received international support from another Teachers Organisation as it pushes back on the government regarding certain aspects of the JTC Bill.
The organisation, the American Federation of Teachers, AFT in a release on Friday, May 23 said it stands with the JTA in its opposition to the JTC Bill recently passed in the Senate in its current form.
It said that this ill- considered legislation will do lasting damage to the teaching profession as, it currently denies teachers autonomy and a voice in how the profession is shaped and developed.
The AFT believes the JTC Bill represents a major step backward but it will support the JTA in its fight forward.
See Released attached
The AFT represent 1.8 million members in the United States alone and collaborates significantly with the JTA.
