Counting completed in the JTA President Elect Elections with a win for Mico University College Lecturer
June 23, 2026
Two candidates contested the 2026 JTA President - Elect Election held June 15 - 19, 2026. They were:
• Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson of the Mico University College and
• Dr Darien Henry of the Montego Bay Community College

A total of 11,275 votes were cast in the election, which was held using the Face - to - Face modality. Each candidate received votes as follows:
• Dr Darien Henry – 3947 votes
• Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson - 6967 votes

Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson having secured the highest number of votes in the preliminary count is hereby declared President - Elect Designate.
Dr Maureen Mullings Nelson will be officially proclaimed at the 62nd Annual Conference scheduled for August 17 – 19, 2026 at the Ocean Coral Spring, Trelawny.
