The Jamaica Teachers’ Association, upon further deliberation and legal advice, has decided to reverse its recent decision to withdraw Mr. Doran Dixon as a candidate in the upcoming Presidential elections of the Association.

The decision to allow Mr. Dixon to remain a candidate for the upcoming election for President-Elect of the Association does not, in any way, reflect that the JTA is in support of Mr. Dixon’s recent pronouncements.  In fact, this latest decision has come about after consideration of what would be in the best interests of all parties involved and in respect of the JTA’s election process.

The JTA wishes to reiterate that it continues to condemn the statements made by Mr. Dixon and does not support, or agree, with the comments made at meetings on May 24, 2013 and May 31, 2013, which said statements have been the subject of widespread public criticism.
