The Ministry of Education, MoE, has come under sharp criticism from the Jamaica Teachers Association for not fulfilling its promise to pay teachers the 50 percent refund of tuition owed for those who have upgraded their education in the past couple of years.
In condemning the Ministry for its failure to keep its promise, Senior Secretary, Member Services of the JTA, Mr. Patrick Smith called for teachers to strongly protest this inaction.
According to him, the ministry had committed to pay the outstanding moneys by March, however to date this has not happened.
Mr Smith urged delegates to the upcoming Annual Conference to make their voices heard on the issue.
