JTA’S GENERAL COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY REJECTS GOVERNMENT’S WAGE OFFER

Publication Date:
Saturday, November 25, 2017

The General Council Meeting, on Saturday, November 25, 2017, voted unanimously to reject the Government’s current wage offer 6% over two years and indicated that, if there is no improved offer from the Government by Friday, December 1, 2017, the Action Committee will be called out.

The strident Council members want the country to know that normality cannot be guaranteed if an improved offer is not received.  The teachers of Jamaica have been biting the bullets for a long time and enough is enough.

We are united in our cause and will neither retreat nor surrender.  The Association will vigorously defend the teachers’ right to receive a better wage offer and significant improvements in their terms and conditions of service.

The Association cannot guarantee normality in the Education System.
